“Ask Your Guides” Oracle Card for Today

I recently purchased a set of Sonia Choquette’s Ask Your Guides Oracle Cards. They’re really great cards, but I haven’t used them enough yet to become really familiar with them. So, what I’ve decided to do is pull one card every day, see what it says and how it relates to me.

Today’s card was an interesting one. The card I drew was the “Priorities” Master Teacher card. The first two lines really hit home.

“For every new ambition, relationship and experience you seek at this time, there’s a commitment in place that must be eliminated to make way for the new. Current routines, habits, and even types of free time must be sacrificed so that you can open up to new energies.”

This is so true of this period of my life right now that it isn’t funny. A bit further down it says:

“Your Master Teacher reminds you that even though the Universe does support your heart, it doesn’t allow you to bypass the work necessary to manifest your desires. In other words, ‘You reap what you sow.’ And the best way is to systematically move toward your priorties while simultaneously discarding what no longer serves you. If you want to lose ten pounds, you must release jelly doughnuts.”

Well, well, well. Do you think my Guides are trying to tell me something? Interesting too, that this card came up after my post on Lent a few days ago, and the whole concept of “giving something up”. And somebody up there knows that I know exactly what kind of stuff I need to be releasing, giving up and letting go. Sometimes I hate it when they’re right.

On the plus side, I’ve already started letting go of some of the stuff that no longer serves me. I’ve given up smoking and most of my unhealthy eating habits, and have made the time to go walking a mile to a mile and a half a day, four or five days a week. While jelly doughnuts aren’t my particular weakness, I’ve released the bacon cheeseburgers and Doritos in favor of healthier foods, and have even started cooking. (Now there’s a scary thought if ever there was one!)

I also went back to Church this morning. For those of you who are curious, no, it didn’t fall down when I walked in. Turns out that I really needed to hear what the priest had to say today, too. I’ve been experiencing a bit of internal conflict when it comes to how my life as a medium fits in with my Catholic upbringing, finding a faith community to strengthen my connection with God, and all that jazz. A few weeks ago, I was reading a book on the Rosary that was written by medium John Edward, where he discussed having this exact same issue. After I read that, I kept planning to go to Mass on Sunday, but this was the first week that I actually got around to doing it, instead of lounging around the house in the morning. (See, I told you the card I drew really hit home!)

The next thing I need to release is a computer game that I’ve seriously become addicted to lately. Releasing the bacon cheeseburgers has actually been easier than letting go of “The Black Knight”. The fact that I sat down and wrote this, instead of playing yet another game is progress. I need to spend more time developing and strengthening my connection to God and those on the other side, and sharing those gifts with others who can benefit from them.

The hardest thing on my list of “things to let go” are a few beliefs I have about myself, my gifts and my self-worth. The biggest one that has to go is the “I’m not good enough” belief. That’s going to be followed by the “there’s something inherently wrong with me and who I am”. The way I see it, if no one has found whatever it is that is supposedly fundamentally wrong with me from the get-go, in all of the almost 45 years that I’ve been alive, then it’s probably just not there. Or, if it is, it’s so miniscule that it’s not even worth worrying about. The “I’m not good enough” belief seriously has to go, though.

Lastly, the card says:

“The message from your Master Teacher: ‘To reach for something greater, you must first let go of what’s in your hand.'”

I think that sums it up rather nicely, don’t you?
